# High-Cost Shipment Outliers, Deutsche Post

## At a glance

The alert fires when any shipment exceeds 2 times the average.

## What it tracks

The card computes the average cost per parcel across the 7-day book, then lists every consignment that rated above 2 times that average, with its Sendungsnummer, destination zone, weight band, product code, and applied surcharges. Rated charges come from the DHL Paket Shipment API (`/parcel/de/shipping/v2/orders`); the surcharge breakdown is reconciled against the monthly Rechnung in the [DHL Geschäftskundenportal](https://www.dhl.de/de/geschaeftskunden.html). Values are in EUR. Most outliers fall into four buckets: weight or dimension surcharges where the packed parcel breached a DHL size class, Sperrgut handling fees on bulky items, Welt-zone parcels priced far above the domestic norm, and genuine rating errors where the wrong product code was selected at label time. The 7-day window keeps the list short and actionable: it is a working queue for the despatch team to investigate this week, not a trend. A single mis-packed product line repeated across many orders shows up here as a cluster, which is the signal to fix packaging or the rate-shopping rule at source.

## Reconciling against the source

Match each flagged Sendungsnummer against its line on the **Sendungsübersicht** and the monthly **Rechnung** in the DHL Geschäftskundenportal to confirm the surcharge that drove the cost. Differences are usually surcharges that post to the invoice after the API-rated value (fuel, peak, dimension reweighs), and the rolling 7-day window versus the calendar invoice period. Scan and rating timestamps are in carrier-local German time.
