# Mobile Ranking Distribution, Google Search Console

> How your mobile organic rankings spread across position buckets in Search Console. How to read it, why it matters, and how to act on it.

**Card class:** [Non-Hero](/nerve-centre/overview#card-classes-explained) • **Category:** [Device SEO](/nerve-centre/connectors#connectors-by-type)

## At a glance

> **Mobile Ranking Distribution** is a histogram of where your mobile organic rankings sit across average-position buckets (for example 1 to 3, 4 to 10, 11 to 20, 21+) for the selected period. It answers "are my mobile rankings clustered near the top of page one, or stranded on page two?" rather than reporting a single average. Because Google indexes mobile-first and mobile is the majority of organic traffic for most ecommerce brands, the mobile shape is the one that matters.

## What it tracks

The card buckets your query/page rankings on mobile devices by average position and plots how many fall into each band for the selected period. A healthy distribution is weighted towards the top buckets (positions 1 to 10, page one); a long tail in the 11+ bands points to ranking opportunities just below the fold of page one, where small position gains convert into outsized click gains. Compare the shape over time to see whether a content or technical change pushed rankings up the buckets or down them. The data is filtered to the mobile device segment of Search Console's Performance report, so it reflects mobile rankings specifically, not a blended figure.

## Reconciling against the source

Rebuild this in Search Console by opening the Performance report, filtering Device to Mobile, and reading Average Position by query or page; the card buckets those same positions. Note Search Console data is typically 2 to 3 days delayed, rare queries are anonymised, and the UI caps at 1,000 rows, so the long tail of your distribution may be undercounted on large catalogues.
