## At a glance

> Klarna product mix: Pay in 4, Pay in 30 days, Slice it (long instalments). Reveals which Klarna BNPL product drives merchant volume; product mix has dramatic impact on AOV and merchant fee.

| | |
| ------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **What it counts** | `GROUP BY purchase_country + payment_method_type` (PAY\_IN\_4 / PAY\_LATER / FINANCING / DIRECT\_BANK\_TRANSFER) for `status = CAPTURED`. |
| **Time window** | `30D`. |
| **Roles** | owner, finance |

## Calculation

Calculated automatically from your Klarna data. See the At a glance summary above for what the metric tracks and the worked example below for a typical reading.

## Worked example

"Helle Mode" 30 days ending 02 May 26.

| Klarna product | Count | Volume EUR | AOV | Volume share | Fee % | Fee paid |
| ------------------- | --------- | ------------- | ------- | ------------ | -------- | -------------- |
| Pay in 30 days (DE) | 4,820 | 612,400 | 127 | 58.6% | 2.8% | EUR 17,150 |
| Pay in 4 (DE) | 1,840 | 248,300 | 135 | 23.7% | 3.5% | EUR 8,690 |
| Slice it 6-24mo | 320 | 184,200 | 575 | 17.6% | 5.5% | EUR 10,130 |
| **Total EUR** | **6,980** | **1,044,900** | **150** | **100%** | avg 3.4% | **EUR 35,970** |

What the merchant should notice:

1. **Pay in 30 days is volume backbone in DE.** German monthly-payday consumers prefer post-payment.
2. **Slice it AOV at EUR 575 (4.5x other products) drives 17.6% volume on 4.6% count.** Strategic value-density.
3. **Fee weighted average 3.4%.** Without Slice it the average drops to 3.0%; Slice it costs 2pp more but enables higher-value purchases.
4. **Country split matters** for multi-country merchants (DE vs UK vs US use different products by preference).

## Sibling cards merchants should reference together

| Card | Why pair it |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------- |
| [`kla_total_volume`](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/klarna-api/total-volume) | Total being broken down. |
| [`kla_avg_transaction`](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/klarna-api/average-transaction) | Slice it's huge AOV affects blended. |
| [`kla_decline_rate`](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/klarna-api/decline-rate) | Slice it has higher decline (credit check). |

## Reconciling against the vendor's own dashboard

**Where to look:**

[portal.klarna.com](https://portal.klarna.com) → **Reports → Sales by product**.

**Why our number may differ:**

| Reason | Direction | Why |
| ------------- | ----------------- | ------------ |
| **Time zone** | Boundary days off | CEST vs UTC. |

## Known limitations / merchant FAQs

**Pay in 4 vs Pay in 30, when does each apply?**
Pay in 4 is global (US-introduced, now everywhere). Pay in 30 is European-specific (DE/AT/NL/SE/NO original). Customers see what's available in their country.

**Slice it eligibility?**
Available for orders typically EUR 100+ in EU markets, USD 50+ in US. Each region has different limits. Klarna runs a soft credit check.

**Can I disable Slice it but keep Pay in 4?**
Yes; merchant configures product mix in Klarna Merchant Portal.

**Does product mix affect my fee?**
Yes substantially. Slice it fee 4-7%, Pay in 4 fee 3-6%, Pay in 30 fee 2-4%. The blended depends on mix.

**Klarna Card payments, where do they show?**
Klarna's physical card (issued in some markets) shows under direct card processing rails, not BNPL. Excluded from this card unless explicitly tagged.
