| | |
| ------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **What it counts** | `Item.Inventory < Item.Reorder Point` (or `Safety Stock Quantity` if Reorder Point not configured). Each row: SKU, on-hand, reorder point, expected stockout date based on velocity. |
| **Currency** | n/a (count + qty metric). |
| **Time window** | `RT` |
| **Alert trigger** | `any below reorder point` |
| **Sentiment key** | `low_stock` |

## Calculation

Calculated automatically from your Microsoft Dynamics 365 data. See the At a glance summary above for what the metric tracks and the worked example below for a typical reading.

## Worked example

US distributor on BC, snapshot 14 Apr 26.

| SKU | On-hand | Reorder Point | Expected stockout | PO in flight |
| --------------- | ------- | ------------- | ----------------- | ----------------- |
| ELEC-LAPTOP-A14 | 24 | 80 | 8 days | None |
| ELEC-MONITOR-27 | 18 | 50 | 12 days | 100 units, 4 days |
| ELEC-DOCK-USB4 | 12 | 30 | 14 days | None |

LAPTOP-A14 stockout in 8 days, no PO in flight. Urgent purchasing action needed.

## Sibling cards merchants should reference together

| Card | Why pair |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------- |
| [OOS with SO Demand](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/microsoft-dynamics/oos-with-open-sales-order-demand) | The cross-connector kill-shot version. |
| [Total Inventory Value](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/microsoft-dynamics/msd-total-inventory-value) | Big picture. |
| [Inventory Turnover](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/microsoft-dynamics/inventory-turnover-ratio) | Velocity. |

## Reconciling against the vendor's own dashboard

**Where to look in Business Central:**

> **Reports > Inventory > Item Availability by Location**
> **Requisition Worksheet** for auto-generated POs

**Why may differ:**

| Reason | Direction | Why |
| --------------------------------- | -------------------------- | ----------------------------- |
| **Reorder Point vs Safety Stock** | Either | Card uses Reorder Point first |
| **Multi-Location** | Card aggregates by default | Per-Location available |

**Cross-connector reconciliation:**

Pair with [OOS with SO Demand](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/microsoft-dynamics/oos-with-open-sales-order-demand) for the demand-validated subset.

## Known limitations / merchant FAQs

**Items without Reorder Point?**
Excluded by default. Configure to include via Safety Stock if Reorder Point absent.

**Multi-Location: which Location's Reorder Point?**
Card uses Item-level Reorder Point. Stockkeeping Unit (SKU)-level Reorder Points (per-Location) supported via field map.

**Velocity calculation: how is "expected stockout" computed?**
30-day average sales velocity divided into current on-hand. Drop-Ship lines excluded.
