| | |
| ---------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **What it counts** | Daily `SUM(G/L Entry.Amount)` for revenue accounts (4000 to 4999 series) over 90 days. |
| **Tax treatment** | Net of VAT. |
| **Currency** | Multi-Company: each Company translated to Reporting Currency. |
| **Sales Credit Memos** | Deducted on the day posted. |
| **Time window** | `90D` |
| **Alert trigger** | `-` (paired with [Revenue Booked into GL](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/microsoft-dynamics/revenue-booked-into-gl) for actionable alerts) |
| **Roles** | owner, finance |

## Calculation

Calculated automatically from your Microsoft Dynamics 365 data. See the At a glance summary above for what the metric tracks and the worked example below for a typical reading.

## Worked example

US wholesale electronics distributor, 90-day window 14 Jan to 13 Apr 26.

| Period | Daily avg revenue | Trend |
| ---------------- | ----------------- | --------------------------- |
| 14 Jan to 12 Feb | \$238K/day | Baseline |
| 13 Feb to 14 Mar | \$258K/day | +8% (Q1 push) |
| 15 Mar to 13 Apr | \$246K/day | -5% (post-Q1 normalisation) |

The card surfaces three observations:

1. **Q1-end push visible in mid-March.** Sales reps closed deals before quarter-end, then sales paused as commission resets.
2. **Single-day spikes match B2B billing-cycle batch runs.** Some merchants run weekly batch invoicing (Mondays) which creates spike days.
3. **Sundays show zero or negligible revenue.** Confirms B2B-heavy mix; DTC-heavy mixes have flatter Sundays.

## Sibling cards merchants should reference together

| Card | Why pair |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------ |
| [Revenue Booked into GL](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/microsoft-dynamics/revenue-booked-into-gl) | The 30-day headline. |
| [Invoiced Revenue](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/microsoft-dynamics/invoiced-revenue) | The Sales Invoice slice. |
| [Cash Collected](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/microsoft-dynamics/cash-collected) | Receipts-side parallel. |
| [Revenue by Company](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/microsoft-dynamics/msd-revenue-by-subsidiary) | Company breakdown. |
| [Revenue by Segment](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/microsoft-dynamics/msd-revenue-by-class) | Dimension breakdown. |

## Reconciling against the vendor's own dashboard

**Where to look in Business Central:**

> **Reports > Finance > Income Statement** (period view)
> **Power BI > Finance Performance > Revenue Over Time tile**
> **G/L Register filtered to revenue accounts**

**Why may differ:**

| Reason | Direction | Why |
| ----------------------------- | ------------------ | ---------------------------------------------- |
| **OData freshness** | Card 15 min behind | |
| **Multi-Company aggregation** | Card sums | |
| **Adjust Cost batch** | Small | Rolling adjustments redistribute small amounts |

**Cross-connector reconciliation:**

Pair with [shopify.total\_revenue](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/shopify/total-revenue) trend for parallel commerce-side view. The gap between them is reflected in [Revenue Gap vs Commerce](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/microsoft-dynamics/revenue-gap-vs-commerce).

## Known limitations / merchant FAQs

**Why are some days zero?**
Weekend posting is rare in B2B. Public holidays show zero. The trendline stays in \$/day so weekend zeros do not skew the rolling average.

**Daily vs weekly aggregation?**
Card defaults to daily. Configurable to weekly for low-volume Companies where daily noise dominates.

**FX impact on the trend?**
Multi-Company tenants: the FX rate moves day-to-day. A purely-FX-driven trend can appear without underlying revenue change. Toggle to view in single-currency Local for noise-free trend.

**Power BI parity?**
Power BI's Revenue Over Time tile shows the same trend per Company. Multi-Company aggregation needs custom DAX.

**Sales Credit Memos cause negative days?**
Yes if a single-day SCM exceeds Invoice posting that day. The trend can dip below zero on isolated days; smooths over the rolling average.
