# Orders / Day, Walmart Marketplace

> Orders / Day for Walmart Marketplace stores. Tracked live in Vortex IQ Nerve Centre. How to read it, why it matters, and how to act on it.

**Card class:** [Non-Hero](/nerve-centre/overview#card-classes-explained) • **Category:** [Marketplace](/nerve-centre/connectors#connectors-by-type)

## At a glance

> Orders / Day plots your daily Walmart Marketplace order count over time, so demand rhythm and sudden swings are easy to read. It is the heartbeat of your channel and a fast way to catch a spike before it overwhelms dispatch capacity. It also makes promotional lift and weekday-versus-weekend patterns obvious at a glance.

| | |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **What it counts** | The number of Walmart Marketplace orders placed each day across the selected window. |
| **Sample type** | Backend API data from Walmart Marketplace, refreshed on the standard data refresh. |
| **Why it matters** | A sudden change in daily orders can strain dispatch capacity and threaten your on-time SLA, or signal a demand opportunity worth resourcing for. |
| **Reading the value** | Watch the trend line shape; rising is demand growth, sharp spikes warrant a fulfilment check. |
| **Currency** | count |
| **Time window** | `30D` |
| **Alert trigger** | `-` |
| **Sentiment key** | `wal_orders_per_day` |
| **Roles** | owner, operations |

## Calculation

Vortex IQ counts your Walmart Marketplace orders for each calendar day in the selected 30-day window and plots them as a daily series. This produces the line chart you see, where each point is one day's order total. As noted in the At a glance summary, the unit is a plain order count per day. The worked example below shows how a spike in the line translates into an operational action.

## Worked example

*A representative reading of **Orders / Day** for a typical merchant on Walmart Marketplace.* On 12 Mar 26 a seller averaging around 40 orders a day sees the line jump to roughly 110 after a Walmart promotional placement went live. Dispatch is staffed for the normal baseline, so pending dispatch starts to build. The action is to add picking and packing capacity for the duration of the promotion and watch the on-time dispatch rate so the lift does not turn into late shipments. For deeper investigation, use Vortex Mind to trace upstream causes; for natural-language exploration, ask Ask Viq.

## Sibling cards merchants should reference together

| Card | Why merchants reach for it |
| ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| [`wal_order_count`](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/walmart-marketplace/total-transactions) | The period total that the daily series sums to. |
| [`wal_pending_dispatch`](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/walmart-marketplace/pending-dispatch) | Shows whether a daily spike is creating a dispatch backlog. |
| [`wal_sla_compliance`](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/walmart-marketplace/on-time-dispatch-rate) | Confirms whether rising volume is hurting on-time dispatch. |
| [`wal_revenue_trend`](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/walmart-marketplace/revenue-over-time) | Pairs order cadence with the revenue trend. |
| [`wal_orders_by_state`](/nerve-centre/kpi-cards/walmart-marketplace/orders-by-state) | Adds the geographic split behind the daily counts. |

## Reconciling against Walmart Seller Center

**Where to look in Walmart Seller Center:**

Verify against the Order Management area, where you can filter orders by date and tally them per day. Walmart's sales reports also let you confirm daily order counts over a chosen range.

**Why the Vortex IQ value may legitimately differ:**

| Reason | Direction | What to do |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------- | ------------------------ |
| **Period boundary.** Vortex IQ uses 30D rolling by default; Seller Center may use calendar periods. | Variable | Match the period range. |
| **Time zone.** Seller Center uses the account time zone; Vortex IQ aligns to the merchant reporting time zone. | Marginal | Confirm time zone match. |
| **Filter scope.** Profile-level filters (fulfilment type, test orders) may narrow the Vortex IQ view. | Variable | Match filter settings. |

**Cross-connector reconciliation:** complement with sibling cards in the same category for the full diagnostic picture. For divergence investigations, use Vortex Mind.

## Known limitations / merchant FAQs

**Q: How often does Orders / Day update?**
The card refreshes on the standard data refresh (typically every 30-60 minutes for live integrations). For real-time signals, force a manual refresh from the dashboard.

**Q: Why does my Walmart Seller Center show a different number?**
The day boundary depends on time zone, so an order placed near midnight can fall on a different day in Seller Center than in Vortex IQ. Test-order and fulfilment filters can also change which orders are counted on a given day.

**Q: Why does a day sometimes show fewer orders than I expected?**
Cancelled or test orders may be excluded depending on your profile filters, and very recent orders for the current day may still be settling into the data on the next refresh.

**Q: Can I customise the alert threshold?**
Yes, sensitivity thresholds are configurable per profile in the Sensitivity tab. Adjust to match your business baseline rather than relying on the generic default.
