Card class: Non-HeroCategory: Cost & Efficiency

At a glance

Average cost per parcel in AUD broken down by Australia Post delivery zone over the trailing 30 days. Australia Post prices parcels by zone (five metro zones plus four regional zones), so this horizontal bar chart shows where your despatch spend actually goes and which lanes carry your highest unit cost.

What it tracks

The card averages the charged postage (in AUD) per consignment, grouped by the Australia Post zone for each origin / destination pair, across the rolling 30-day window. Australia Post’s zonal model means a metro-to-metro parcel is materially cheaper than a metro-to-regional or regional-to-regional one; the bars let you see that spread at a glance and spot which zones drive your blended shipping cost. The most important thing to watch is Australia Post’s annual price review, which lands each October and can move zone boundaries and rates enough to shift your cost mix without any change in where you ship. Read this card alongside Cost by Zone for the total spend view, Avg Shipping Cost for the single blended number, and Cost Per Shipment Trend for direction over time. There is no alert threshold on this card; it is a cost-structure view, not a real-time alarm.

Reconciling against the carrier’s own dashboard

Cross-check against your Australia Post Business invoice in MyPost Business → Billing, or the eParcel charge report in the eParcel Customer Centre, with the same 30-day window. Differences usually come from negotiated account rates vs published rates, fuel or peak surcharges applied at invoice time rather than at label time, and the timing of the October annual price review.
