What it tracks

The card plots total Japan Post shipping spend divided by consignment count, sampled across the trailing 90 days. A smooth gentle slope usually reflects a shift in despatch mix (more EMS, more remote-prefecture Yu-Pack, heavier parcels); a sharp step almost always reflects a Japan Post tariff change, the annual Yu-Pack pricing review typically lands in March and can move whole prefecture-zone bands at once, and EMS rates are revised periodically too. Reading the trend over 90 days lets you separate a genuine cost-creep that needs a packaging or carrier-mix response from a one-month blip driven by a heavy-parcel promotion or a seasonal spike such as Oshogatsu (New Year) gifting. There is no alert on this card; it is a watch metric. Reconciling against the source
