Calculation

Calculated automatically from your NetSuite data. See the At a glance summary above for what the metric tracks and the worked example below for a typical reading.

Worked example

A US wholesale distributor on NetSuite OneWorld. 30-day window 14 Mar 26 to 12 Apr 26. Reporting currency USD.
SubsidiaryInvoice countInvoiced revenue (USD)
US Distribution Inc482$5,840,000
CA Distribution Ltd (Canada)84$720,000
Invoiced Revenue (this card)566$6,560,000
ComparisonAmountNotes
Invoiced Revenue (this card)$6,560,000Invoice transactions only
Cash Sales (separate)$310,000Prepaid web orders, POS
Credit Memos (separate, deducted on GL card)($128,000)Returns processed in window
Revenue Booked into GL$6,742,000Sum of all three
Five things to notice:
  1. Invoiced Revenue is the biggest slice of total revenue for B2B-skewed businesses (typically 95-99% of total). For DTC-skewed businesses on NetSuite, Cash Sales can be 30-50%.
  2. The 566 invoices count is more useful than the dollar number for AR analysis. Average invoice value (~$11.6K) tells you customer-mix concentration. Compare to Average SO Value.
  3. Last period was $6,890,000. This period is down 4.8% vsP, well below the alert threshold. The trend chart shows the slope.
  4. Cash Sales of $310K are typically retail POS or web-prepaid orders. They’re real revenue but they don’t create AR, so they don’t show up here. For an AR-driven analysis (DSO, aging), this card is the right denominator.
  5. The $128K Credit Memo reduction shows separately. This card is gross of refunds; the Revenue Booked into GL card is net.

Sibling cards merchants should reference together

CardWhy pair it with Invoiced Revenue
Revenue Booked into GLThe full revenue picture (Invoiced + Cash Sales + revenue journals minus Credit Memos). Invoiced is the biggest slice.
Cash CollectedReceipts side. Invoiced is what you billed; Cash Collected is what they paid. Difference is AR.
DSOAverage days from Invoice to cash. Health metric on the AR cycle.
Invoice Aging SummaryWhat’s still open.
Credit Memos ValueThe deduction side. Together gives net invoice activity.
Average SO ValueForward indicator. SO value today predicts Invoiced Revenue tomorrow.
shopify.total_revenue / bigcommerce.total_revenueCommerce gross. Comparison surfaces the SO-to-Invoice timing gap.

Where to look in NetSuite:
Reports → Sales → Invoice Register Saved search: Transaction.Type = 'CustInvc' AND Posting = T AND TransactionDate BETWEEN [start, end]
The Invoice Register report should match this card to the dollar. Adjacent reports that look related but aren’t:
  • Sales by Item: includes Cash Sales and Credit Memos by default; unfiltered totals do not match.
  • Income Statement: includes everything; matches the GL Booked card, not this one.
  • Customer Aging: balance view, not period flow.
Why our number may legitimately differ from NetSuite reports:
ReasonDirectionWhy
Cash Sale exclusionCard lower than Income StatementThis card is Invoice-only; Income Statement includes Cash Sales.
Credit Memo treatmentCard higher than net-of-CM viewsCredit Memos are separate. Net invoice activity needs CM subtraction.
Subsidiary scopeEitherCard defaults to all subsidiaries the role can read.
FX rate cadenceSmallTransaction-date FX vs period-average FX.
Cross-connector reconciliation:
CardRelationshipWhy
shopify.total_revenueCommerce > Invoiced (with lag)Commerce gross feeds the SO queue; Invoiced is downstream. Difference is the SO-to-Invoice cycle time × inflow rate.
bigcommerce.total_revenueLarger lagB2B Net-30 means Invoiced lags commerce by 10-30 days.

Known limitations / merchant FAQs

Why is this card different from Revenue Booked into GL? Two reasons: (1) this card excludes Cash Sales (POS, prepaid web orders that bypass Invoice); (2) this card is gross of Credit Memos. The GL Booked card is the consolidated view; this is the Invoice-only slice. Should I use this or GL Booked for board reporting? GL Booked. That’s the audit-grade total revenue figure. Use Invoiced for AR analysis (DSO, aging, collection efficiency). Why is the count more useful than the dollar value sometimes? Invoice count tracks operational throughput. A merchant could see flat dollar Invoiced Revenue but rising count, indicating smaller-basket B2B customers replacing larger ones. Count + AOV = decomposition. Recurring billing on subscriptions? Each billing cycle creates a new Invoice. So a 120Kannualcontractbilledmonthlyproduces12Invoicesof120K annual contract billed monthly produces 12 Invoices of 10K each. The card sums them in the period they post. ASC 606, what hits this card? Invoiced amount, not recognised revenue. ARM-deferred revenue still appears here at full Invoice amount; deferral lives on the Balance Sheet. The GL Booked card is the recognised view. B2B credit-hold, does it suppress Invoiced Revenue? Yes, indirectly. SOs on credit hold don’t bill, so they don’t create Invoices, so they don’t appear here. This is the leading indicator: Invoiced Revenue dropping while open SOs are rising is the classic credit-bottleneck signal. Does Cash Application affect this card? No. Cash Application changes the AR balance but not the Invoiced Revenue total. This card is the period-flow of new Invoices created. Multi-currency, how does FX work? Each Invoice is translated to reporting currency at transaction-date rate. OneWorld accounts: see the Revenue by Currency card for the FX-mix view.
