At a glance
Etsy Shop Health Score is a single composite number that rolls up the signals Etsy buyers and the Etsy search algorithm care about most: your review rate, your on-time shipping rate, the share of your catalogue that is active and sellable, and the stability of your listings in Etsy search. An Etsy seller cares because the score is an early warning that tells you, in one glance, whether the shop is drifting toward a Star Seller badge loss, a search visibility dip, or a buyer-experience problem before any single metric trips its own alert. A healthy shop sits comfortably in the high range with no component dragging the average down. A struggling shop shows a falling score driven by one weak pillar, for example a run of late shipments or a wave of expired listings, that the composite surfaces before it becomes a revenue problem.
| What it counts | A weighted composite of review rate, on-time shipping rate, the percentage of listings that are active and sellable, and search-rank stability. |
| Sample type | Backend API data from Etsy, refreshed on the standard data refresh. |
| Why it matters | It is the fastest way to spot a shop-wide decline. A single number moving down points you to which Etsy pillar needs attention before it costs you the Star Seller badge or search placement. |
| Reading the value | Higher is healthier. Read it as a 0 to 100 index, not a percentage of anything. A score below the alert line means at least one underlying pillar is weak enough to pull the whole shop down. |

Calculation
The score blends four Etsy pillars into one index: the rate at which orders earn reviews, the share of orders shipped within your declared processing window, the proportion of your listings that are active and in stock rather than expired or sold out, and how stable your listings are in Etsy search over the window. Each pillar is normalised and weighted, then combined into a single value. Because it is a composite, a strong score can hide one weak pillar, and a falling score always traces back to one or more underlying components rather than the index itself.Worked example
Illustrative numbers. On 14 Jun 26 a handmade ceramics shop sees its Etsy Shop Health Score fall from 84 to 68, tripping the alert at the 70 line. The owner opens the card and sees three pillars holding steady while on-time shipping has slipped, because a kiln delay pushed several orders past the declared processing window. They extend the processing time on the affected listings, message the waiting buyers, and prioritise the backlog. By 21 Jun 26 on-time shipping recovers and the composite climbs back to 81. To confirm the kiln delay was the only cause, the owner uses Vortex Mind to trace which orders dragged the shipping pillar down, and later asks Ask Viq in plain English, “which listings caused my health score to drop last week”, to double check nothing else contributed.Sibling cards merchants should reference together
| Card | Why merchants reach for it |
|---|---|
on-time-shipping-rate-star-seller-kpi | One of the four pillars; the most common cause of a falling composite. |
star-seller-status | The badge outcome the health score is designed to protect. |
active-listings | Drives the active-and-sellable pillar of the composite. |
avg-review-rating | Feeds the review pillar; a rating slide quietly lowers the score. |
late-shipments-risking-star-seller | Isolates the exact orders pulling the shipping pillar down. |
Reconciling against Etsy Shop Manager
Where to look in Etsy Shop Manager: There is no single Shop Health Score inside Etsy, so reconcile pillar by pillar. Check Shop Manager > Star Seller dashboard for on-time shipping and review signals, Shop Manager > Listings for the active and expired counts that drive the sellable pillar, and Shop Manager > Stats for search visibility trends that feed the rank-stability pillar. Why the Vortex IQ value may legitimately differ:| Reason | Direction | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Composite weighting. Vortex IQ combines four pillars into one index, while Etsy reports each metric separately. | Variable | Compare each pillar to its matching Etsy view rather than expecting a single matching number. |
| Window alignment. The card uses a real-time or 7-day view; Etsy’s Star Seller dashboard runs on its own rolling assessment window. | Marginal | Allow for the boundary difference when a pillar looks slightly off. |
| Sellable definition. The active-listing pillar excludes expired and sold-out listings that Etsy may still list in your catalogue total. | Variable | Reconcile against the active-only filter in Shop Manager > Listings. |
