At a glance
Listings with <5 Hashtags is the share of your active catalogue tagged with fewer than five hashtags. Depop discovery is hashtag-driven: hashtags are how buyers find one-off items in search and Explore, so a listing with thin tags is invisible on most of the surfaces a shopper actually browses. This card shows how much of your shop is hiding from search for want of a few more relevant tags.
| What it counts | The percentage (and count) of active listings carrying fewer than five hashtags. |
| Sample type | Backend API data from Depop, refreshed on the standard data refresh. |
| Why it matters | Hashtags are Depop’s main organic discovery lever. Each relevant tag is another search surface a buyer can find you on. Under-tagged listings miss most of that traffic, which suppresses views, then saves, then sales. |
| Reading the value | A low share means most listings are well tagged. When more than roughly one in five is under five hashtags, a meaningful slice of your catalogue is missing free discovery. |

Calculation
The card divides the count of active listings with fewer than five hashtags by total active listings, expressed as a percentage. Vortex IQ reads the tag count per listing from the Depop integration; the hashtag boundary and alert percentage are configurable in the Sensitivity tab.Worked example
A representative reading of Listings with <5 Hashtags for a typical Y2K accessories shop on Depop. Of 210 active listings, 58 had three or fewer tags, putting the share near 28 percent, above the 20 percent guide. Vortex Mind showed the under-tagged group drew far fewer search impressions than well-tagged peers. The seller worked through them adding brand, era, style and colour tags to round each out to the full set. Over the next month search-driven views on the reworked listings roughly doubled and several long-stale items finally sold. To prioritise, ask Ask Viq for under-tagged listings ranked by days since last sale.Sibling cards merchants should reference together

Reconciling against Depop
Where to look in Depop’s own dashboard: Depop does not publish a shop-wide hashtag-completeness figure. Reconcile by opening a sample of flagged listings and counting the tags on each. The per-listing tag count is what Vortex IQ aggregates into the share. Why the Vortex IQ value may legitimately differ:| Reason | Direction | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Active scope. Only active listings count toward the share. | Variable | Confirm which listings are live. |
| Boundary setting. The under-five threshold is configurable. | Variable | Check your Sensitivity tab value. |
| Refresh timing. Newly added tags register on the next refresh. | Marginal | Force a manual refresh after retagging. |
