Calculation

Calculated automatically from your Microsoft Dynamics 365 data. See the At a glance summary above for what the metric tracks and the worked example below for a typical reading.

Worked example

US wholesale electronics distributor, 90-day window 14 Jan to 13 Apr 26.
PeriodDaily avg revenueTrend
14 Jan to 12 Feb$238K/dayBaseline
13 Feb to 14 Mar$258K/day+8% (Q1 push)
15 Mar to 13 Apr$246K/day-5% (post-Q1 normalisation)
The card surfaces three observations:
  1. Q1-end push visible in mid-March. Sales reps closed deals before quarter-end, then sales paused as commission resets.
  2. Single-day spikes match B2B billing-cycle batch runs. Some merchants run weekly batch invoicing (Mondays) which creates spike days.
  3. Sundays show zero or negligible revenue. Confirms B2B-heavy mix; DTC-heavy mixes have flatter Sundays.

Known limitations / merchant FAQs

Why are some days zero? Weekend posting is rare in B2B. Public holidays show zero. The trendline stays in $/day so weekend zeros do not skew the rolling average. Daily vs weekly aggregation? Card defaults to daily. Configurable to weekly for low-volume Companies where daily noise dominates. FX impact on the trend? Multi-Company tenants: the FX rate moves day-to-day. A purely-FX-driven trend can appear without underlying revenue change. Toggle to view in single-currency Local for noise-free trend. Power BI parity? Power BI’s Revenue Over Time tile shows the same trend per Company. Multi-Company aggregation needs custom DAX. Sales Credit Memos cause negative days? Yes if a single-day SCM exceeds Invoice posting that day. The trend can dip below zero on isolated days; smooths over the rolling average.
