At a glance
This card breaks average order value down by US state, showing where on the Walmart Marketplace map your highest-value baskets land. It turns one blended AOV number into a geographic picture, so you can see which states pull your average up and which drag it down. Calculation
Vortex IQ takes Walmart order revenue over the selected window and divides it by order count within each destination state to produce a per-state average. The result is rendered as a bar comparison so high and low states stand out at a glance. As described in the At a glance summary, read each bar against your blended AOV; the worked example below shows how a single state can skew the overall figure.Worked example
A representative reading of AOV by State for a typical merchant on Walmart Marketplace. Over the 30 days to 12 Mar 26 a seller sees a blended AOV around a representative 61 while several smaller states sit near $34. The reading means a handful of high-value states are lifting the blended figure, so the action is to test a free-shipping threshold or bundle promotion in the lower-AOV states to lift baskets there rather than assuming the blended number applies everywhere. Reconciling against Walmart Seller Center
Where to look in Walmart Seller Center: Cross-check against the Order Management area, where shipping destinations are recorded, and any sales or analytics reporting that breaks revenue down by region. Seller Center geography views may aggregate differently from the state grouping used here. Why the Vortex IQ value may legitimately differ:| Reason | Direction | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Period boundary. Vortex IQ uses 30D rolling by default; Seller Center may use calendar periods. | Variable | Match the period range. |
| Time zone. Seller Center uses the account time zone; Vortex IQ aligns to the merchant reporting time zone. | Marginal | Confirm time zone match. |
| Filter scope. Profile-level filters (fulfilment type, test orders) may narrow the Vortex IQ view. | Variable | Match filter settings. |
