Card class: Non-HeroCategory: Page SEO Performance

At a glance

Position by Page ranks your landing pages by their average organic-search position, drawn as a horizontal bar chart. A lower number is a better ranking, so the pages with the shortest bars are your strongest organic assets and the longest bars are pages stuck deep in the results. Use it to find pages worth defending and pages worth optimising.

What it tracks

This card reads the page dimension from the Google Search Console Search Analytics API and reports each page’s average position, the impression-weighted mean ranking of that URL across every query it appeared for. Pages are listed by their canonical URL exactly as Search Console attributes impressions to them. Average position at page level hides the spread of queries underneath it. A product page sitting at average position 8 might rank 2 for its brand-plus-product query and 30 for a broad category term, so treat the page average as a starting point and drill into the queries driving each URL. Pages that combine a strong position (low number) with high impressions are your organic workhorses; pages with high impressions but a weak position are the clearest optimisation targets, because small ranking gains there move the most traffic. Read this alongside per-page click and click-through-rate data so you optimise the pages that will actually convert improved rankings into visits. Pair it with CTR by Page, Top Pages by Clicks, Pages Losing Traffic, Page Performance Trend and Position by Country.

Reconciling against the source

Open Search Console, Performance, Search results, switch to the Pages tab and tick Average position. Search Console data is typically 2 to 3 days delayed, anonymises rare queries and the UI caps at 1,000 rows, so pages beyond the top 1,000 by traffic may not appear in the native view even though they contribute to the API-driven figure here.
